Training for an event can be a great way to get in shape and a great way to keep yourself motivated. There are 5Ks, half marathons, and marathons around the globe, but have you considered a Tough Mudder?
Tough Mudder events aren’t your average distance runs — these are obstacle courses that involve a lot of teamwork and they’re a lot of fun. We recommend training for them to get the most out of the experience but as long as you can deal with getting muddy and some dirt under your fingernails, you’ll have a blast. Not to mention you’ll get a great workout and cross the finish line feeling like a total badass.

What is a Tough Mudder?
Tough Mudder events combine a run (the terrain depends on which location you sign up for!) with an adrenaline-packed, teamwork-oriented obstacle course. Some obstacles — like those that have you hauling wood or navigating slack lines — test your physical strength. Others test your mental toughness, like bear-crawling through a muddy drain pipe or wading in neck-deep water under a chain link fence. But the best obstacles are those done with friends – like helping a teammate over a half-pipe or building a human pyramid to get up an inclined wall.
There are two types of Tough Mudder events: the Challenge Series and the Race Series. While the events in the Race Series are timed and competitive, the Challenge Series is all about teamwork and camaraderie.
For a mud run newbie, the Challenge Series can be a fun place to start. Costumes are encouraged, the course isn’t timed, and you’re allowed to skip obstacles — though your fellow runners are always happy to cheer you on and (literally) pull you through.
Each series has several events to choose from, so you can decide how intense you want your experience to be.
Tough Mudder Challenge Series
