Chai tea, spiced with cardamom, ginger, clove, and black pepper, gives it memorable flavor that will make you look like a culinary genius.   • 5 medium apples cored, cut into quarters
  • 5 medium apples peeled, cored, cut into quarters
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 2 inch slice lemon peel
  • 10 bags chai tea


  1. Place apples, sugar, lemon peel, and tea bags in a 2 to 3-quart slow cooker.
  2. Cook on low for 12 hours or until apples are completely broken down.
  3. Remove lemon peel and tea bags.

Recipe Notes

  • There are a lot of good apples that can be used to make apple butter. You can use one type or a combination: Cortland, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Jonathan, Jonagold, Braeburn, Granny Smith (tart), McIntosh, and Gala.
  • All apples can be peeled if you prefer, but leaving the peels on gives you more fiber and is healthier.
