While we’re obviously into health and fitness, we also know how to have a good time outside the kitchen and the gym. And sometimes that includes indulging in a little cocktail action. Hey, it’s summertime: The sun is shining, the ocean is calling, and the drinks are flowing.

Whether you need a delicious Fourth of July cocktail or simply a healthier poolside drink to sip on this summer, we can’t recommend this watermelon cocktail recipe enough. It’s refreshing, yummy, and light, so it won’t pack in too many excess calories. Win, win!

Mint Watermelon Cocktail Ingredients

  • 2 cups watermelon
  • 3 fl. oz. 80 proof vodka
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (approx. 2 limes)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 3 fresh mint leaves

This delicious watermelon cocktail includes refreshing ingredients like mint leaves, fresh lime juice, and, of course, everyone’s favorite summer fruit, watermelon. A cup of diced watermelon is a good source of vitamin C and adds a lovely natural sweetness, plus plenty of hydration. We’ve added in a little honey to give our watermelon cocktail a hint of extra sweetness without giving you a total sugar dump. Top it off with some vodka for a drink that’ll keep you feeling good all summer long!

The best part? It’s quick, easy, and blended to perfection! It only takes 10 minutes to make and has 152 calories, with 6 grams of added sugars. As far as total daily sugar intake goes, that’s well within your limits. Men need to keep it under 36 grams a day, while women should stick to under 25 grams a day.

If you’re not drinking, feel free to omit the vodka — or serve up these watermelon popsicles instead.

Mint Watermelon Refresher Cocktail

What's better on a hot summer day than a cold, refreshing cocktail? This mint watermelon cocktail combines the flavors of summer with your favorite liquor. This recipe can also be made without alcohol for a pool-side mocktail.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup watermelon
  • 3 fl oz. 80 proof vodka 
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (approx. 2 limes)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 3 fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut watermelon into cubes, juice lime.

  2. Place vodka, lime juice, ice, watermelon, and honey in blender; cover. Blend until smooth. Divide evenly between into a serving glass; garnish with mint leaves, enjoy!
