Tracking what you eat can be key to helping you lose weight, eat healthier, and learn more about how certain foods impact your body. But many people find logging their meals too complicated and time consuming.
So Openfit created a quick, simple meal-scanning feature that allows you to automate your food logging in concert with the Openfit tracker and the One-Minute Meal Plan. All you need is the camera on your mobile device and the Openfit app.
How Does Openfit’s Meal Scanner Work?
Just scan what you’re about to eat using your phone’s camera. For best accuracy, focus your camera on one item at a time, whether it’s the food itself, a barcode, or its packaging.
How to Get Started: Step by Step
Point your camera at the item you want to catalog.
Once the scanner recognizes it, a table will pop up displaying the food’s nutritional content along with “Other Suggestions” of similar foods. The first nutritional information you’ll see is the calorie total. To view macronutrient totals such as carbs, fat, and protein, simply tap on the serving amount.
Scan as many items as you’d like in one session. Your display will show the full drawer of items, so you can add/delete along the way. You have the option of editing serving sizes as well.
If for some reason the meal scanner does not recognize an item, you can still “Search manually” the way you always have.
Select the “log items” button at the bottom of the screen to save your meal and track your nutrition.
