How to Make Healthier Snacks

Ideally, a healthy snack has balance of macros. “That means it should have a mix of complex carbohydrates, lean protein, and some healthy fats,” says Mascha Davis MPH, RDN, author Eat Your Vitamins.

“A balanced snack will be more filling and deliver more nutrients,” she adds. Opting for one of these snacks below will help you feel more satiated throughout your day, so you don’t feel the need to reach for another snack 30 minutes later.

That being said… some people occasionally like to live on the lower carb side of life. For those folks, we included a few snack ideas that are lighter on carbs and focus more on healthy protein and fats.

Here’s a list of our favorite healthier snack ideas, separated by need and occasion!
