Avocado Toast with Paprika

Avocado toast is all the rage at healthy cafes across the country. While the price varies depending on where you are located, most often the price outweighs the healthy convenience. We recently saw a single slice of Avocado Toast on the menu of a chic cafe in San Francisco for eleven dollars. While that might seem like highway robbery to most of us, there is a fantastic alternative. Avocado Toast is incredibly easy to make at home and is crazy good for you.

Avocados are full of healthy fats and when slathered on whole-grain toast, they create a simple dish that’s packed full of nutrients and flavor. Finish your avocado toast with a pinch of paprika, or for a delicious hint of smokiness use smoked paprika. If you like a little heat, chili powder makes a nice alternative to paprika.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium ripe avocado mashed
  • 4 slices low-sodium sprouted whole-grain bread toasted
  • tsp. Ground paprika or ½ tsp. chili pepper

Instructions

  1. Spread ¼ of avocado onto each slice of toast.
  2. Top with ¼ tsp. paprika.
